The White House has dismissed three National Security Council (NSC) staffers following a recent security breach. The firings occurred on Thursday (April 3) and involved senior directors Brian Walsh, Thomas Boodry, and David Feith.
The dismissals follow a meeting between President Donald Trump and far-right activist Laura Loomer, who reportedly presented opposition research on several NSC officials.
The decision to fire the staffers comes after National Security Advisor Michael Waltz mistakenly added a journalist to a Signal chat discussing sensitive military operations in Yemen. This incident has led to widespread criticism and scrutiny of the NSC's communication practices. According to The Guardian, Loomer criticized the staffers during a meeting with President Trump, which reportedly influenced the decision to fire them.
The White House has not confirmed whether the firings are permanent, and the NSC declined to comment on the matter.
“NSC doesn’t comment on personnel matters,” NSC spokesman Brian Hughes said in a statement to CNN.
