Cori Dionne Gauff, known as Coco Gauff, is a professional tennis player who has made a name for herself as a teenage phenom. Born on March 13, 2004, in Delray Beach, Florida, Gauff comes from a family of accomplished athletes. Her father, Corey Gauff, played basketball for Georgia State University, and her mother, Candi Odom Gauff, was a track and field athlete for Florida State University.

Gauff began playing tennis at the age of 6 and by the time she was 10, she had traveled to France to train with Patrick Mouratoglou, who coached Serena Williams. Gauff's talent was evident early on, and she gained widespread recognition in 2019 when she received a wildcard entry to Wimbledon. At just 15, she defeated her childhood idol, Venus Williams, in the first round of the competition, becoming the youngest player to reach the fourth round of the grass-court Slam since Jennifer Capriati in 1991.

In 2023, Gauff fulfilled her destiny by winning her home Grand Slam event, the U.S. Open, becoming the youngest American woman to win the tournament since Serena Williams in 1999. She also won her first WTA 1000 title in Cincinnati the same year.

Gauff was selected for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics but had to withdraw after testing positive for COVID-19. However, she has been named to the 2024 U.S. Olympic team and is expected to compete in singles and doubles with partner Jessica Pegula in Paris.

Off the court, Gauff is a passionate advocate for social justice causes, using her platform to address significant issues, particularly focusing on racial equality, climate change, and racial injustice.
