Andrée Goldberg, the woman who caused a viral shouting match with Kylie Kelce, the wife of recently retired former Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro center Jason Kelce, issued a public statement addressing the incident on Thursday (May 30).
“In a heated moment, I said things that were out of character for me and that I regret and for that, I am sorry,” Andrée Goldberg said in a statement obtained by 6 ABC Philadelphia.
PhillyChitChat.com, a website that refers to itself as 'a social diary' on all things Philadelphia, received accounts from bystanders in Margate City, New Jersey, who witnessed the incident take place. The Kelces were reportedly idling in their truck while waiting for a spot to open up at Steve & Cookies by the Sea last Saturday (May 25) night when Goldberg approached and banged on the vehicle to get their attention.
The couple declined a photo with the woman's family, at which point the situation escalated.
“The women [sic] went ballistic after not getting her way,” PhillyChitChat.com's Hugh E. Dillon wrote.
The Philadelphia-based Word To The Wise Podcast initially shared the now-viral clip and said it was also told that Goldberg attempted to get a photo with the Kelces while they were in their vehicle and went off after Kylie politely declined.
"Story we're getting is crumb bum was trying to get a photo with Kylie & Jason Kelce while they were in traffic or in their car. Kylie politely said no and that's when the lady went off. Hun you just embarrassed yourself," the account wrote.
Kylie is heard pointing out that Goldberg asked for the photo "in the middle of the street" and points out that she can "smell the alcohol on your breath" and that the woman is "embarrassing yourself."
The incident reportedly took place in Margate City, New Jersey, as Kylie and Jason were on a date Monday (May 27) night. Margate City Mayor Michael Collins issued a formal apology to the couple during an appearance on Mike and Diane Morning Show on 95.1 WAYV Wednesday (May 29) morning.
"On behalf of the City of Margate, I’d like to formally apologize to Jason and Kylie Kelce for the experience they had in Margate over the holiday weekend," Mayor Collins said. "As a father with young children, I know, as well as anyone, the importance of a date night with your wife and would like to offer Jason and Kylie an opportunity for a redo date night dinner in Margate on me."
Kylie, an Eastern Pennsylvania native and former field hockey player, married Jason, a six-time All-Pro, former Super Bowl champion and one of the most beloved players in Eagles history, in April 2018 and shares three daughters, Wyatt, 4, Elliotte, 2, and Bennett, 1, with the recently hired ESPN analyst.
